Water levels in rivers rise, landslides still feared
After the recent devastating floods in Nepal, there is a threat of further floods once again, in view of which the authorities have issued a new alert for various areas.
According to authorities, a sudden increase in water flow and noise has been recorded in the Bhutto Koshi River. Due to the situation, people living near the river and teams engaged in rescue activities in the affected areas of Rasova, Nuwakot and Dhading have been instructed to be cautious.
There is still a large amount of debris and mud in many areas affected the recent floods, while relief agencies are busy reaching the victims and searching for missing people.
Authorities have warned that if the water level in the rivers rises again, further flooding may occur, while there is also a risk of landslides in mountainous areas.
Nepal’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology is also issuing instructions to citizens to take precautionary measures regarding the continuous rains and possible floods.
According to the latest official data, 734 people have died in Nepal as a result of the recent devastating floods, while about 2,500 people are still missing.
The total death toll from the floods in Nepal and Tibet has reached about 750, due to which relief activities are underway in the affected areas as well as preparations to deal with further possible floods.
