Despite extreme altitude, extreme cold and low air pressure, the phone did not stop working
During an unusual experiment conducted in Sweden, the iPhone 17 Pro was taken to a height of about 100,000 feet above the ground and dropped, but surprisingly the phone remained safe and was found to be fully functional even after the experiment.
According to foreign media reports, the iPhone 17 Pro was placed in a special AirX case and transported to the stratosphere through a large balloon. During the experiment, the phone reached a maximum height of 100,416 feet.
It took the phone about 25 minutes to return to the ground from the height. During this time, the device and protective case were exposed to extremely harsh weather conditions, where temperatures reached minus 40 to minus 60 degrees Celsius, while the air pressure was only about one percent of normal sea level pressure.
After the phone reached the ground, the experiment team began searching for it in the forests of Sweden with the help of GPS technology and after some time the device was found.
Later, the iPhone was presented to a Guinness World Records judge, where its condition and performance were assessed.
Surprisingly, the phone was not only turned on but could also be used as usual. Calls were made from it, photos were taken and the device was also turned on and off. No major damage was found on the exterior of the phone.
This unique experiment was carried out in collaboration with the British aerospace company Sent Into Space. Its main objective was to test the AirX case’s ability to withstand much harsher conditions than a normal drop test.
Factors such as extremely cold temperatures, low air pressure, and possible impacts during the return to Earth were taken into account during the experiment, after which the safety of the iPhone 17 Pro was declared the most significant result of the experiment.
