Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has spoken about an old incident involving Salman Khan, revealing that an argument between the two once became so heated that it eventually turned into a physical altercation.
In a recent interview with Indian media, the 81-year-old filmmaker recalled how Salman’s brother had suggested that he work with the actor. Ghai agreed and later developed the story for the film Yuvvraaj.
However, things took an unexpected turn before the film went into production. The two reportedly got into an argument at a party.
According to Subhash Ghai, Salman Khan had allegedly been drinking at the time and said something inappropriate to him. Ghai said he asked the actor to stop, but the conversation soon became more serious. Salman then questioned some of Ghai’s decisions as a director, and the disagreement eventually escalated into a fight.
The situation was later handled Salman’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan. Ghai said Salim Khan reprimanded his son and asked him to apologise for what had happened.
The filmmaker recalled that Salim Khan called him the following morning and expressed regret over the incident. Salman also later visited Ghai’s home and apologised to him personally.
Ghai said Salman’s decision to listen to his father and apologise helped change his feelings towards the actor. He eventually forgave Salman, and the two were able to move past the incident.
Their professional relationship also continued, with the two going on to work together on Yuvvraaj. The film, which also featured Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, was released in November 2008 but failed to make a strong impact at the box office.
